(Toronto, ON) October 15, 2013 – Musician, food lover and host Steven Page, provides a glimpse into the well-concealed world of underground restaurants and eateries with the premiere of new original series The Illegal Eater on Tuesday October 22nd at 9pm ET / 10pm PT on Travel+Escape. Former member of The Barenaked Ladies, Steven’s extensive touring throughout his music career revealed to him that every city has a hidden food scene where the experience isn’t limited to the cuisine. Page serves as the audience’s guide to the underground food community and plays an active role in the sound, having penned the series theme song.
In The Illegal Eater, Page visits off the beaten path, culinary locales in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans, and Brooklyn before heading north to explore Halifax, Ottawa and hometown Toronto. Actively seeking out underground locations that thrive on legal loopholes or in some cases ignore legal mandates completely, he experiences opposite ends of the spectrum from stomaching a developing duck embryo to attending an unlicensed pop-up supper club.
“Years of touring around the world as a musician have led me to understand that each city and each region are defined by their food and drink,” said Steven Page, host, The Illegal Eater. “As the world can sometimes look more and more alike everywhere you go, it’s often best to start searching underground for the real heart and soul of a town. I’m so excited to be able to share my quest with our audience.”
Steven Page wrote, produced and performed the theme song especially for The Illegal Eater with each episode featuring original music by Page. The theme song “The Illegal Eater” is available on iTunes around the world on October 15th. To preview and download the first full episode of the series visit iTunes.com/TheIllegalEater.
