Jamie Schouela serves as President of Canadian Media at Blue Ant Media. In his role, Schouela is charged with leading the strategic direction and operations of the company’s Canadian television, print and digital properties which include Love Nature, BBC Earth Canada, Cottage Life, T+E, A.Side, Makeful, Smithsonian Channel Canada and HIFI. His portfolio includes managing multi-platform content development and scheduling, marketing, communications, as well as the company’s domestic media sales team and social content studio, Blue Ant Plus. He is also oversees relationships with Blue Ant Media’s national cable, IPTV and satellite partners.
Schouela has a strong background building premium, multi-platform media brands both through partnerships that have brought international players to Canada (Smithsonian Channel and BBC Earth) as well as leading the development and launch of homegrown ones (Love Nature, Makeful, A.Side). Schouela has also been a driver of Blue Ant Media’s overall commitment to expand on emerging platforms by championing the launches of Love Nature SVOD and Smithsonian digital video products in Canada.
Prior to Blue Ant Media, Schouela served as Vice-President, Marketing for Shaw Media, directing all marketing and communications activity for Global Television and its 19 specialty channels. He began his career at Alliance Atlantis where he helped build a number of networks including Showcase, History Television and BBC Canada. His campaigns have won both Promax and Canadian Marketing Association awards, as well as a Guinness World Record for a stunt promoting hit series 24.
Schouela sits on the Board of Directors for Numeris and Polaris Music Prize. He is also an Advisory Board Member for the Banff World Media Festival, Primetime Conference and the Ontario College of Art and Design’s Digital curriculum.
