(Toronto, ON, October 13, 2016) – Blue Ant Media announced today the appointment of Jago Lee to Creative Director for the international media company’s newly launched UK-based production studio, operating as Antenna Pictures. In this role, Lee will build a broad production slate, leveraging Blue Ant Media’s international footprint, with an emphasis on innovative premium factual content.

Lee is an award-winning executive producer and former Head of Documentaries for Tiger Aspect. In 2010, he founded Nerd TV which produces factual entertainment and factual formats for the UK and international markets and is now part of global super-indie Red Arrow. Lee brings to the table 20 years of experience in developing, selling and producing non-scripted television worldwide.

“With Jago’s talent, knowledge and leadership in the factual space, we are ready to expand our production footprint to the UK under his creative direction,” said Raja Khanna, CEO, Television & Digital, Blue Ant Media. “Antenna Pictures will work closely alongside Blue Ant Media’s channels and producers in Canada and our International distribution division, Blue Ant International, to create world-class factual and factual entertainment content and formats.”

Antenna Pictures will operate out of London, UK and has begun developing a slate of distinctive, ambitious formats for broadcasters and streaming video services in the UK and US markets.

“I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the best unscripted creatives in the business throughout my career, but Blue Ant Media’s unique breadth of operation and reputation for delivering top tier factual content was an irresistible opportunity for me,” said Jago Lee, Creative Director, Antenna Pictures. “As an international distributor, broadcaster and content player, Blue Ant is brilliantly positioned to nurture the next generation of factual formats that I am keen to produce.”

The initiative points to Blue Ant Media’s ongoing international expansion, including the company’s joint venture with Smithsonian Networks to distribute Love Nature globally; Blue Ant International’s UK office expansion; and collaboration with Scripps Networks Interactive to bring HGTV to New Zealand.

Jago Lee will join Blue Ant Media at MIPCOM 2016.
