Toronto, ON (September 25, 2017) – Cottage Life is inviting cottagers and outdoor enthusiasts to embrace the magic of fall at the 2017 Fall Cottage Life Show, returning to The International Centre in Mississauga, Friday, October 20 to Sunday, October 22. For attendees planning to build cottages, fix up their existing property or begin the hunt for their first dream cottage, the show has more than 225 exhibitors that offer best-in-class docks, building products, unique furniture, boats and outdoor equipment. Meet in person with cottage country realtors, building experts, eco-energy suppliers and more.
New this year, the three-day show will include a real estate main stage Q&A panel as well as a contingent of cottage real estate exhibitors. Additional special features include a rock-climbing wall, a new walk-through model cottage, the always popular Dock Party, live woodworking demonstrations and a special stage appearance and meet-and-greet with Colin and Justin, the stars of Cottage Life’s Cabin Pressure.
2017 Fall Cottage Life Show Highlights:
The Main Stage – Cottage Life brings its best-in-class expertise, advice and ideas to life on stage with a lineup of can’t miss presentations, including:
- Cottage Real Estate – The post-summer, fall cottage real estate is gaining popularity and Cottage Life magazine Editor-in-Chief, Michelle Kelly, will be moderating this highly anticipated panel discussion on the Main Stage with Cottage realty experts Chris Winney and Ross Halloran.
- Solar-powered generator – Canadian inventor and recent Dragon’s Den contributor, Connie Stacey, is sure to draw a crowd with her brand new, innovative, solar-powered, portable generator, the Grengine. The Canadian inventor will demonstrate first hand how this unit offers an accessible, affordable energy source and is an invaluable back-up for critical power needs at the cottage and at home.
- Colin and Justin – Cottage Life fan favourites and stars of Cabin Pressure, Colin and Justin, will be on stage Sunday, October 22 to entertain, amuse and inspire with delightful design ideas and decadent DIY projects. Fans will be able to meet and greet the Decor Duo immediately following their stage presentation just steps away in the Cottage Life booth.
- Additional stage presentations and demonstrations will include: the logistics of building a cottage from afar with Dave Bond from Beaver Lumber; how to deal with climate change at the cottage with Melinda Zytaruk from Fourth Pig Green and Nature Construction; need-to-know information about cottage foundations with builder Andrew Brown; and beautiful design ideas for your cottage with Angela Jones from Lakeshore Designs.
Model Cottage – Attendees will have a chance to walk through a beautiful, fully-furnished new model cottage design from Bonneville Homes. MICRO-V, one of the newest models in Bonneville’s Micro-Loft Series, features a striking veranda that extends the living area by 130 square feet and is fitted with solar screens to offer privacy and protection from the sun’s glare and insects. With a total floor plan of 800 square feet, the single-level home includes two bedrooms, a full bathroom and an open-living space with full-length windows overlooking the garden and terrace.
The Dock Party – The always popular dock party gives attendees a chance to kick back and take a load off with a great mix of food and beverages to sample, including premium beer from Muskoka Brewery and cocktails from Walters Caesar. All ticket sales will benefit the Cottage Dreams Cancer Recovery Initiative.
Cottage Workshop – Veteran Cottage Life carpenter extraordinaire Wayne Lennox will once again set up his workshop on-site to execute a three-day building project that gives attendees a live demonstration on how they can ‘do it themselves’. This year Wayne is building something every cottage could use, a universal rack for canoes, kayaks and/or stand up paddleboards. All lumber will be supplied by Home Hardware and visitors will be able to enter their names for a chance to win the rack.
Cottage Games – Showgoers needing a fun break from the aisles will love the games area, complete with interactive, kid-friendly games including a giant Connect Four and Jenga, washer and bean bag tosses and a backyard golf green. Visitors will also get a chance to take a souvenir picture of themselves at the Paddle Canada photo booth.
The Great Outdoors – New this year, show goers will have the opportunity to climb a 18-foot high rock wall with professional climbing experts on hand to coach and spot climbers. Back by popular demand, the Haliburton Sled Dogs will be on hand for visitors to meet as well as learn more about winter trail experiences.
The Cottage Life Booth – Cottage Life fans will get the opportunity to chat with Cottage Life magazine Editor-in-Chief Michelle Kelly and the rest of the editorial team at the flagship booth. The Cottage Life booth will also host a meet-and-greet session with Colin and Justin after their Sunday Main Stage presentation.
