Blue Ant International Announces Sales and Renewals with Japanese Broadcasters at MIPCOM 2019

14 October 2019

Premium titles picked up in Japan by NHK and Fox Networks Group Japan

Blue Ant International secures licensing deals with Japanese broadcasters including blue chip natural history doc, Turtle Beach, picked up by NHK.

(Cannes, FR – Oct. 14, 2019) – In celebration of Japan being a country of focus at MIPCOM 2019, Blue Ant International announces four new programming licensing deals and four renewals spread amongst two of the country’s leading platforms – the nation’s broadcaster NHK and cable and satellite network FOX Networks Group Japan.

“Blue Ant International’s premium content aligns perfectly with the beautiful and thought-provoking factual programming our Japanese broadcast partners curate,” says Solange Attwood, EVP, Blue Ant International. “Both broadcasters have high standards for storytelling and high-quality productions, which speaks to the strength and universal appeal of our 4K programming and we look forward to working with NHK and Fox Global Networks Japan to place additional titles on their platforms.”

NHK has licensed three new titles including Turtle Beach (1×60’; 4K & HD; Renegade Pictures & Merit Entertainment), which reveals turtles’ nesting behaviours and the hidden world inside their nests; UFOs: The Lost Evidence (1×60’; HD; Megalomedia), which explores if human contact with UFOs is deeper and more far-reaching than imagined; and Rooted (1×60; 4K & HD; Rooted Media), an award-winning natural history film that showcases five of South Africa’s most iconic trees and the unique animals, insects, and birds surrounding them.

Fox Networks Group Japan has secured a new license for the title Blue (1×60’; 4K & HD; Northern Pictures, a Blue Ant Studios company), a provocative journey into the ocean realm, while renewing four other natural history series. Renewals include Undiscovered Vistas season one (8×60’; 4K & HD; Blue Ant Studios), an awe-inspiring, aerial journey that reveals some of the most beautiful places in the world; Coastal Africa season one (4×60’; 4K & HD; Off The Fence), which follows the vibrant marine life that thrives where two oceans converge on the southern tip of Africa; Great Blue Wild season one (6×60’; 4K & HD; Blue Ant Studios), a series that joins marine ecologists as they uncover ocean secrets and defend endangered animals; and Land of Gremlins season one (3×60’; 4K & HD; Off The Fence), a journey through Madagascar’s pristine paradise for a glimpse of some of Earth’s weirdest and rarest creatures.

Blue Ant International will showcase all of this content and more at MIPCOM 2019 at booth R8.D7. This year, the distributor launches a slate of over 330 new premium titles across categories. Its full catalogue is available to view at this link.
