New interactive series rolls out across Love Nature’s social platforms
(Washington, D.C. – October 19, 2020) – Love Nature, a family-friendly wildlife and nature brand, kicked off Wildscreen Festival today by announcing a new original, digital-exclusive series Nature of the Beast, launching across the brand’s digital platforms throughout the fall. This captivating series allows viewers to experience animals and nature from the perspective of wildlife filmmaker Julian “Julz” Braatvedt, who, in this first installment, provides an inside look at following and filming hyenas in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia. Watch the Nature of the Beast trailer on Facebook here.
The first three episodes of Nature of the Beast will appear on Love Nature’s Facebook on Wednesdays and branded YouTube channel on Fridays, culminating with a fourth episode that will be a live conservation special hosted by Julz. This interactive event will feature the stories of dedicated wildlife allies working in the field to save hyenas and offer ways for Love Nature’s audience to get involved through volunteer programming and fundraising. Additionally, Love Nature will host weekly Instagram Lives with Julz to discuss everything from close calls in the field to tips for filming animals in the wild.
“Love Nature has been building its digital and social audience over the last year and this series is a great example of that offering, giving viewers a fresh, interactive way to experience wildlife and nature content,” says Carlyn Staudt, Global General Manager, Love Nature. “Julz makes Nature of the Beast feel like a conversation with a friend who’s guiding you on an adventure into the wild.”
Nature of the Beast highlights surprising behaviours and social dynamics of predators in Africa. The first three 12- to 15- minute episodes, which focus on hyenas, reveal a new side to this often misunderstood predator through multiple animal perspectives. The series seamlessly blends premium, blue-chip footage with Julz’s candid and personal experiences of what it’s like to work on location. Julz has ten years capturing footage wildlife in a variety of African ecosystems, from the Okavango delta to the Virunga massif, and has filmed animals for BBC, Discovery and National Geographic.
“When the pandemic brought wildlife filmmaking to a standstill, I knew it was critical to continue bringing animals and their stories to viewers in a different and interactive way,”
says Julian “Julz” Braatvedt, Wildlife Filmmaker & Producer. “Launching the series on digital platforms allows me to connect directly with viewers to share new perspectives on wildlife and support solutions that will have a lasting impact on wildlife habitats and the entire global ecosystem.”
