World Broadcast Premiere on Monday, January 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
(Toronto, ON – January 13, 2021) – Proceed with caution as Season 2 of original series The Weather Files: Total Impact (8×60’ HD) takes viewers inside extreme monster storms and natural disasters through the eyes of real-life survivors, first responders and scientific experts. The second installment of this action-packed series looks back on dreaded and feared events such as ‘Snowmaggedon’, one of the worst blizzards in Newfoundland’s history in January 2020; an EF5 tornado touching down in Missouri; and Anak Krakatoa, a young, volcanic island off the east coast of Java unexpectedly erupting in Indonesia. The Weather Files: Total Impact uses gripping, first-hand accounts, dramatic original footage, graphic animations and scientific contributions from climate change experts and meteorologists. The series also examines the unexpected and surprising ripple effects of disasters, which include severe snow storms producing catastrophic avalanches and rainfall from hurricanes playing an important role in ending droughts. Season 2 of The Weather Files: Total Impact premieres Monday, January 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, exclusively on Cottage Life.
The first two episode include:
- Episode 1 – Blizzards
January 18 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
The New Year comes with an unexpected bang when a Bomb Cyclone hits the eastern Newfoundland seashore. The result: a hurricane blizzard featuring 140km/hr winds and a colossal 76 inches of snow. Kyle and Shaundell’s baby has decided to come now, during ‘Snowmageddon’. We reveal the mesmerizing brinicle, see how snow flowers form and show how artificial glaciers are already being used to alleviate drought, as global warming shrinks the ice print on the planet.
- Episode 2 – Hurricanes
January 25 at 9 p.m. ET/PT
Hurricane Dorian barrels through the Caribbean, narrowly missing landfall on several islands, but the Bahamas aren’t so lucky. With 295km/hr winds, the storm hits full force … and stalls. Yet, deadly as hurricanes are, we see another side of hurricanes and typhoons: how hurricanes can turn into life saving ‘Drought Busters’ and how futuristic technology could tame typhoons and reduce the world’s ‘Death Print’.
