Audiences are immersed in courageous and breathtaking rescues in the rugged Northwest Coast
(Toronto, ON – March 11, 2021) – Global distribution group, Blue Ant International, announces today it has acquired the international rights to Search and Rescue: North Shore (5 x 60’; 4K & HD), a gripping five-part series that gives audiences front-line access to the heroic and daring rescue missions of an elite volunteer rescue squad as they find and save people in distress among the rugged mountains, canyons and forests of the Northwest Coast of North America. Through the lens of real rescues, audiences get to know some of the impassioned people who dedicate their time to saving lives. The series, produced by Peg Leg Films, in association with British Columbia’s Knowledge Network is available for international licensing via Blue Ant International. A trailer for Search and Rescue: North Shore can be viewed here.
“Search and Rescue: North Shore takes viewers on exhilarating, high stakes and emotional missions that shine a spotlight on a gutsy group of volunteer rescuers and the courageous lengths they take to save their fellow citizens in peril,” says Solange Attwood, EVP, Blue Ant International. “Audiences around the globe will be inspired by the human stories amid the strikingly beautiful, yet dangerous environment.”
With more than 150 calls a year, membership on the crucial North Shore Rescue team demands dedication and personal sacrifice. Shot over a full year by a camera crew embedded with the team, the episodes feature breathtaking cinematography and immerse audiences in the high stakes involved in rescuing stranded hikers, locating children lost in the dark, bringing injured mountain bikers to safety and searching for snowshoers dragged down a mountain by an avalanche. Along the way, viewers get to know members of the team including Peter, who has been on the team for 25 years, Barry, a university professor who coordinates helicopter rescues, and Maria, a new recruit with a young family at home.
“People are surprised by how intimate the series is; you really feel like you’re part of the team. It has the mystery of unsolved missing-person cases and the excitement of long line helicopter
rescues,” says Grant Baldwin, Director & DOP, Peg Leg Films. “Blue Ant International is an experienced partner to bring these human stories of courage to platforms around the world.”
