“The passionate fan reaction to New Kids in the Wild was the impetus to create a second installment, in which our filmmakers went even further afield to capture exclusive peeks into the life-building experiences of new little animals,” says Carlyn Staudt, Global General Manager, Love Nature. “Families and kids will love the cute and heartwarming animal stories that also offer fascinating insight on how vulnerable newborns learn to survive.”
“We’re thrilled to be making another season of New Kids in the Wild with Love Nature,” says Debbie Hinnigan, Executive Producer, Off The Fence.” We’re working hand in hand with incredible local teams who despite a global pandemic have managed to capture beautiful images that give a real insight into some of the regions’ most distinctive and iconic animals. Being able to film the critically endangered Muriqui, known as the hippy monkey is something that we’re extremely proud of.”
New Kids in the Wild Season 2 features the stories of baby animals, as they learn to thrive in the bio-diverse regions of South America including jungles, wetlands, rivers, coastal bays and urban areas. The episodes reveal how youngsters learn to navigate the world around them and how their natural surroundings impact their lives now, and in the future. Many stories explore the clever ways animal babies and their parents have adapted to thrive in habitats taken over by expanding cities and human encroachment. Shot in UHD, the series’ expert camera teams are working closely with world-renowned scientists to capture intimate close ups and behaviors of baby animals and their families. Additionally, 4K drone shots reveal incredible details in awe-inspiring scenery and gimbal-mounted REDs track stalking predators, and motion-controlled cameras capture the very first moments to life.
Audiences will be introduced to five new animals learning to thrive in very different environments including:
- Rarely filmed baby muriquis, one of the most critically endangered primates, found only in Brazil, as they learn to find food and climb for the first time
- Young giant river otters in the Pantanal wetlands of Brazil as they learn to swim before their first rite of passage—hunting for fish with their parents
- Baby coati pups in Brazil’s Campo Grande Park who must get used to human neighbours from a nearby town encroaching on their forest home
- A small southern sea lion on the Valdez Peninsula in Argentina, who survives a harrowing escape from her greatest predator, the orca
- Jaguar cubs in Pantanal wetlands as they build strength by playing close to the den and eventually embark on their very first hunt and taste meat for the first time
New Kids in the Wild is Executive Produced by Debbie Hinnigan from Off The Fence, with Series Producer, Ruth Harries and Producer Sam Dawe. James Manfull will Executive Produce the series on behalf of Love Nature.
