Blue Ant Studios Unveils Standout Slate for London Screenings Featuring 40+ New and Returning Series and Premium Documentaries

19 February 2025

New offering includes a jam-packed lineup of premium titles including Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy and Never Get Busted!

Never Get Busted – Still Horizontal – Barry Cooper

Never Get Busted! (1 x 90, Projector Films), which premiered at Sundance Festival last month, has joined Blue Ant Studios’ latest premium slate at London Screenings

(Toronto, Canada / London, UK – February 19, 2025) – Blue Ant Studios, an international production studio and rights business, is heading to London Screenings this year with a wide-ranging slate of new programming from a variety of genres.

The impressive line-up features more than 40 new and returning series as well as stand-out documentaries produced both in-house and by some of the world’s leading independent producers. Key titles from the crime genre this year include Never Get Busted!, which is executive produced by Chris Smith (Tiger King) and John Battsek (Wham!, Beckham, Elton John) and premiered last week at Sundance Film Festival, and Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy (original broadcaster: Peacock), which looks at Perry’s death and the people who have been charged.

“Our latest programming slate reflects one of our biggest investments to date, ensuring we bring our buyers around the world the most premium series and documentaries on offer in London next week. With world-class, third-party production partners, our own best-in-class production talent and a proven track record of delivering returnable hits for buyers worldwide, we continue to set the standard for exceptional storytelling that resonates across global audiences,” says Mark Bishop, Co-President, Blue Ant Studios. “We’re seeing an impressive slate of popular, returning series this year, including Blue Ant Studios’ original unscripted hit, Northwoods Survival; and we have a strong list of impactful crime titles, from our third-party production roster this year, including Projector Films’ Never Get Busted! and ITN’s Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy that we know will do well internationally.”

CRIME:

Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy (1 x 60, ITN) is a compelling documentary telling the story of beloved actor Matthew Perry’s shocking death. This documentary weaves Perry’s rise to fame with the tragic events leading to his final days, as he allegedly received ketamine from individuals “who should have known better.”

Never Get Busted! (1 x 90, Projector Films), follows Barry Cooper, an expert at hiding drugs, evading police, and raising hell! But once upon a time he was a decorated narcotics officer at the forefront of the War on Drugs in Texas. After a botched raid leaves a family destroyed, his conscience flips, and he quits the force. Falling in love with a weed dealer, Barry has a life-changing epiphany: he’s been fighting for the wrong side. Submarine is co-distributing this title with Blue Ant Studios

Last Night Out (10 x 60, First Look TV), explores the tragic consequences of seemingly ordinary nights that spiral into devastating crimes. This true crime series examines real-life cases where lives were lost during what should have been carefree moments—nights out with friends, family celebrations, and intimate evenings with loved ones.

Caribbean Vice (10 x 60, Lucky 8) is an action-packed series that takes viewers behind the scenes with law enforcement agencies battling smuggling in the tropical waters from South America to Florida. Set against a stunning backdrop, the series follows the courageous individuals who risk it all to protect us from illegal drug and weapons trafficking.

Shoot to Kill: Hunting the London Bombers (2 x 60, Curious Films), looks at the tragic events and aftermath of the 7/7 London bombings and the failed attacks two weeks later. After a police operation misidentified an innocent civilian as a would-be suicide bomber, he was tragically killed at close range by a police specialist firearms unit.

FACTUAL ENTERTAINMENT & FORMATS:

Northwoods Survival S2 (S2: 8 x 60, S1: 8 x 60, Blue Ant Studios), follows a diverse group of people as they embark on the challenge of their lives – a four-season mission to build a life in the vast and unforgiving northern landscape. The series takes viewers on an adventure through remote and rugged spots, as our participants face the harsh realities of living entirely off the land and striving to not just survive, but to thrive, in these treacherous places that they now call home.

Engineering from Above (8 x 60, Blue Ant Studios), takes viewers on an exploration of staggering engineering marvels from around the world. Using cutting-edge technology and dynamic graphics, each episode reveals these iconic sites from new perspectives, uncovering the secrets hidden within. Through a unique view from above, the series answers the how and why behind these awe-inspiring feats of human ingenuity.

LIFESTYLE:

Adam Richman Eats Football (10 x 30, eOne), follows globally renowned food explorer Adam Richman as he embarks on a unique food tour of Britain, blending his two passions: food and football. Traveling from London to Liverpool, Brighton to Glasgow, Adam explores the food cultures surrounding some of the biggest football clubs.

Christmas at the Biggest Sweet Store in the World (1 x 60, Screendog Productions), takes viewers behind the scenes at three of the world’s largest candy stores during the festive season. In New York, the flagship It’Sugar store in the American Dream mall faces off against its rival in Times Square. In the UK, Cadbury World unveils an elaborate chocolate sculpture after a grand reopening. Meanwhile, in Sweden, Gottebiten—the world’s largest candy store by floor area—struggles to meet the sweet demands of candy-loving locals with its 700 varieties of pick ‘n’ mix.

Todd Talbot Builds: The Passive House Project (8 x 30, Infinity Films), follows TV personality Todd Talbot (Love It Or List It Vancouver) and his actor wife, as they embark on building a sustainable vacation home on a stunning lakefront property. Together they design a unique, net-zero A-frame lakehouse, built to withstand the challenges of climate change while showcasing some incredible designs. But when wildfires ravage the region, Todd and the lakehouse face their toughest test yet.

HISTORY:

The Colosseum with Dan Snow (2 x 60, History Hit), is a captivating two-part special that delves into the history of one of the world’s most iconic landmarks. Built nearly 2,000 years ago, the Colosseum continues to capture our imagination. Historian Dan Snow uncovers the real story behind this ancient wonder, exploring its groundbreaking design and the methods used to construct it.

Disaster Autopsy (8 x 60, Blink Films), offers an innovative and exciting way to investigate the hidden causes behind some of the world’s most catastrophic events. Disasters strike without warning, anywhere, anytime. This series re-creates these real-world disasters, peeling back the layers to uncover their surprising causes.

Pompeii: Life in a Roman Town (4 x 60, History Hit), takes viewers on a fascinating journey into the daily lives of ancient Romans, exploring the preserved town of Pompeii like never before. Historians Dan Snow and Kate Lister reveal what it was really like to live in this extraordinary time capsule – from what people ate, how they worked and entertained themselves, to the weird punishments for lawbreakers. With special access to both the streets and underground ruins, Dan and Kate immerse themselves in Roman life, bathing, feasting, and dressing like the elite.

PARANORMAL & UNEXPLAINED:

You Can’t Deny It (6 x 60, Blue Ant Studios), is a thrilling series that presents undeniable evidence of the spirit world’s existence. Each episode takes viewers to some of the world’s most notorious haunted locations – from diners to maximum security prisons – where paranormal entities have terrorized those who dare to enter. Through firsthand accounts from witnesses who’ve experienced chilling supernatural encounters, the series uncovers eerie and spine-tingling stories that can’t be ignored.

Ghosting S2 (S2: 8 x 30, S1: 8 x 30, Blue Ant Studios with Luke Hutchie Productions), follows horror actors turned amateur ghostbusters, Luke Hutchie and Matthew Finlan as they venture into some of the most iconic and scary locations on their quest to discover if they are truly haunted. Joined by a celebrity special guest each episode, Hutchie and Finlan put their fictional survival skills to the test in the very real world of ghost busting, hoping to find out if each location is haunted or not.

Ghost Lands (1 x 60, Familiar Films), is a captivating, hour-long documentary exploring real Indigenous ghost stories passed down through generations. Led by an Indigenous cast and crew, these stories are told by those with a profound connection to the spirit world and offer a unique and powerful perspective on the paranormal.

DOCUMENTARY:

Much Ado About Shakespeare (1 x 60, Barking Mad TV), follows Steven Wadlow, a window cleaner who believes that a painted portrait that has been hanging above his family’s television set for over half a century may be worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The history of the painting suggests it could be a missing portrait of William Shakespeare that had been painted during his lifetime. This captivating film uncovers the mystery behind a painting that could rewrite history and change Steven’s life forever.

The Spoils (1 x 120, Cave 7 Productions), explores the ongoing battle over the restitution of Nazi-looted art, set against the rise of the far-right in Germany and the resurgence of post-WW2 art collections on the global market. The film focuses on the struggle over ownership, history, and morality, centered around failed efforts in Düsseldorf to honor German-Jewish art dealer Max Stern.

NATURE, WILDLIFE & ENVIRONMENT:

Bugs that Rule the World (4 x 60, Coneflower Studios), is an exploration of the planet’s most populous – yet most underappreciated – creatures: insects. Through the eyes of dedicated scientists and enthusiasts, this series uncovers the extraordinary world of bugs, revealing their ingenious adaptations, strange behaviors, and why they truly “rule the world.” From essential pollinators like bees and butterflies to the unseen work of nature’s cleanup crews, insects are vital to life on Earth.

Snow Leopards With Dan O’Neill (2 x 60, Off The Fence) features biologist and naturalist Dan O’Neill embarking on a groundbreaking mission to protect one of the world’s most elusive creatures—the snow leopard. Set against the stunning backdrop of Kyrgyzstan’s rugged mountains, this two-part adventure follows Dan as he works to build a new research center dedicated to studying these majestic cats.

Deep Dive North America (6 x 60, Big Wave), takes viewers on an epic journey through the continent’s most diverse and captivating marine environments. From the icy shores of northern Alaska to the tropical reefs of Panama, presenter Lizzie Daly explores the challenges and opportunities facing North America’s marine life.

13 Hours to Survive (2 x 60, Films à Cinq), gives viewers an up-close look at the opportunity and peril that the tide creates. Filmed off the coast of Brittany, France, with cutting-edge underwater technology, the series reveals unexpected animal behaviors, from fierce battles to surprising alliances, births, and the will to survive.

Secrets of the Enchanted Waters (6 x 60, Off the Fence), takes viewers on an immersive journey into some of Earth’s most captivating bodies of water. Each episode explores a unique aquatic realm, revealing the intricate connections between the animals and their environments. From the vast power of the ocean to the eerie mystery of swamps, every habitat has its own character, shaped by the creatures that call it home.

Coral City (4 x 60, WildBear Entertainment), takes viewers inside the vibrant, bustling ecosystem of the Great Barrier Reef, one of the planet’s largest and most biodiverse natural wonders. Like a bustling city, the reef is home to distinct “neighborhoods” – coral, lagoon, sand cay, and coastal rainforest – each with its own rhythms, influenced by the tides, time of day, and changing seasons.

National Parks from Above: Ireland (3 x 60, Like a Shot TV), features a stunning aerial journey over six of the country’s most breathtaking national parks. From soaring over the rugged peaks of the Wicklow Mountains with paragliders, to diving into the crystal-clear lakes of the Burren with park rangers, this series offers a unique perspective on Ireland’s wild beauty.

The Earthshot Report (1 x 60, Open Planet Studios), is the definitive review of the world’s progress in protecting and restoring the planet. Hosted by Hannah Waddingham and introduced by HRH Prince William, this inspiring special highlights global success stories, innovative solutions, and emerging trends driving us toward a sustainable future.

Dances with Cranes (1 x 60, Sea to Sea Productions), follows the incredible journey of the whooping crane, one of the world’s rarest and most ancient birds, predating humans by tens of thousands of years. Once nearly extinct, with fewer than 20 remaining in the 1940s, these majestic creatures are still fighting for survival.

KIDS AND FAMILY:

Old Enough S2 (S2: 7 x 30, S1: 7 x 30, Blue Ant Studios), is a documentary-style series that follows young Canadian kids as they get their very first taste of independence, based on the hit Japanese format of the same name. Each episode follows real children, ages 3-6, as they head out into the world by themselves, for the first time, to run everyday errands for their parents. What starts as simple, household tasks turns into hilarious adventures and heartwarming interactions when carried out by newly empowered toddlers who are often held back by their helicopter parents.

Green Squad S2 (S2: 13 x 15, S1: 13 x 30, Apartment 11), follows a team of passionate and environmentally savvy young hosts who challenge kids and their families to make eco-friendly lifestyle changes for a healthier planet. The Squad provides fun, cool and entertaining projects that can lead to all-important environmental change.

In addition to the series listed above, Blue Ant Studios is proud to present a number of returning popular series, Bollywed (28 x 30, HeartHat Entertainment), My Haunted Hometown (16 x 60, Blue Ant Studios), World’s Deadliest Weather (78 x 60, back2back), Killers Caught on Camera (30 x 60, back2back), A Killer’s Mistake (50 x 60, First Look TV), Holmes on Homes: Building a Legacy (14 x 60, The Holmes Group), Wild Rose Vets (26 x 30, Wapanatahk Media & Thunderbird Entertainment), Flat Out Food (31 x 30, Haltermedia), Warplane Workshop (18 x 60, Air TV), Strangest Things (30 x 60, Blink Films), Lakefront Luxury (18 x 30, Nikki Ray Media Agency), Kitchen Glow Up (16 x 30, Intuitive Content), Money for Nothing (280 x 60, Friel Kean Films), and Staying Wild (18 x 30, Little Ox Film Company, Overtime Studios & 3 Story Pictures).
