Animal Crowds (3 x 60’)
Producer: Bonne Pioche Télévision
Co-Production partner: ARTE GEIE
This fascinating three-part series examines the phenomenon of wildlife that gathers, lives, and moves about in groups by the hundreds and even thousands. Whether it be herds, flocks, shoals, swarms, or colonies, everywhere on Earth animals form communities driven by the need to reproduce, adapt to climatic conditions, feed and protect themselves, or any combination of the above. The series goes one step further to reflect on the human tendency to get close together in large groups and how our societies and territorial urges might be dictated by animal instinct. Incredible footage of animals points to the study of behaviour and whether our social habits are the legacy of an evolution, to which we remain oblivious. From the producers of the legacy natural history documentary, The March of the Penguins, Animal Crowds promises breathtaking footage combined with compelling insight.
The Philippines (2 x 60’)
Producer: Terra Mater
Production partners: Catkin Media Production and Doclights
This stunning two-part series takes audiences on an incredible journey into the varied natural landscape of the Philippines. Formed by Earth’s powerful forces over millions of years, the geological landscape of this extraordinary group of islands is shaped by volcanic eruptions and deep trenches. Oceans, seas, volcanos and the diverse marine life at the edge of the Coral Triangle make these islands a truly unique natural paradise on the Pacific Ring of Fire. This program will take us there to discover the beauty of The Philippines. Episodes explore the wild animals and marine life who inhabit the rainforests, mountains, beaches and reefs of the Philippines.
Boss Shark: Battle of the Sexes (1 x 60’)
Producer: WildBear Entertainment
Co-Production partner: Discovery
In the world of great white sharks, males are bolder and more aggressive, but females are bigger. The first Boss Shark identified an alpha male in a congregation of male great white sharks. This new one-hour documentary uses a playful team-based competition spin to discover whether male or female sharks are more dominant. Through a series of jumping, strength, and boldness challenges, shark experts, Doctor Riley Elliott and Kori Burkhardt, evaluate the male and female sharks, to see which dominates the ecosystem and along the way, offering thrilling footage of sharks in action.
Planet Weird Season 2 (6 x 60’)
Producer: WildBear Entertainment
This second instalment of Planet Weird continues to explore bizarre outliers in the animal kingdom. With cheeky wit and a unique visual style, this eclectic series plays with pop culture, humor and graphics to make the absolute extremities of nature leap right off the screen and into the modern world. With the help of celebrity comic narrator, Ross Noble, the episodes deliver an experience that’s funny, irreverent and honest, revealing amazing creatures that can be as failable and deluded as people are.
