Footwear company KEEN debuts latest product using Blippar’s immersive digital experience
Toronto, ON (March 12, 2015) – Hitting newsstands this week, the Spring edition of Cottage Life magazine, a Blue Ant Media publication, will add an interactive element to the traditional way in which a print publication is consumed by its audience. Partnering with Blippar, a market leading image-recognition and augmented reality app, the Spring issue of Cottage Life magazine will offer a unique and immersive digital experience that will deliver rich interactive content through the pages of the magazine.
After downloading the free Blippar app onto a smartphone or tablet, readers can place their device over the issue’s “blippable” pages to unlock a series of exclusive content. Users can bring to life the story behind the new initiative in a video by Penny Caldwell, Editor, Cottage Life. Other pages allow readers to download plans for a DIY picnic table, watch a heartwarming video of a dramatic rescue, get a sneak preview of the second season of Cottage Life’s TV show Colin & Justin’s Cabin Pressure, and go behind-the-scenes of the design process for KEEN’s new innovative sandal, Uneek.
“We wanted to build an interactive experience for our loyal print audience that would integrate digital technology and enhance the way they interact with that form of media,” said Caldwell. “This partnership with Blippar will not only change the way print magazines are consumed, but also change the way advertisers showcase their products. KEEN, our presenting partner, is our first advertiser to activate its print ad with this technology.”
“We are launching an innovative product called UNEEK that challenges the way we create product and the way footwear works, so when Blue Ant Media and Cottage Life approached us with this unique way to engage their readers, we felt it was a perfect fit.” said Heather Taylor, Marketing Director, Keen Canada.
The interactive content will also be available for readers of the western Canada edition, Cottage Life West, hitting newsstands this week.
