Original Productions for Blue Ant Media Canadian Channels
According to the action plan submitted to the CRTC in September 2019, Blue Ant’s goal is to achieve gender parity in key creative positions in Canadian commissioned original productions for its eight discretionary television services by the end of broadcast year 2024.
The focus of Blue Ant’s gender parity plan is on the following key creative positions that are essential in the production of factual programming:
- Broadcast Executive
- Executive Producer
- Series Producer
- Director
- Head of Production (Line Producer)
- Story Editor
Specifically, as part of a phased in process to reach this goal, for its 2020 slate Blue Ant aimed that in 60% of the commissioned programs, 50% of key creative positions would be held by women. In the end, Blue Ant exceeded this with 7/10 or 70% of its projects achieving gender parity.
