(Toronto, ON – May 22, 2018) – Things aren’t always what you expect in Riverdale and T+E fans across Canada are in for a treat. The Blue Ant Media specialty channel is set to premiere Season 1 of Riverdale for the first time on a Canadian linear television network. Based on the characters from Archie Comics, the series follows Betty, Archie, Veronica and Jughead as they contend with the dark undercurrent of their seemingly wholesome town, Riverdale. This one-hour drama is a bold, subversive take on the surreality of small-town life that hinges on the mysterious disappearance of golden boy, Jason Blossom and extends into the tangled relationships of the four iconic friends and their community. This exciting addition perfectly aligns with T+E’s current programming and will allow television viewers to enjoy the popular series from the very beginning on Tuesday, May 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

“T+E is the perfect broadcast home for Riverdale in Canada. The dark humour, mystery and camp baked into the series fits perfectly with the channel’s lineup,” said Jamie Schouela, President, Canadian Media, Blue Ant Media. “We’re excited to introduce this fan-favourite series to our audience.”

Riverdale revolves around Archie Andrews, an all-American teen who dreams of a career in music instead of following in his father’s footsteps and who is dealing with his fractured friendship with fellow classmate Jughead Jones. Meanwhile, girl-next-door Betty Cooper is anxious to see Archie after being away all summer, but she’s not quite ready to reveal her true feelings to him. When a new student, Veronica Lodge, arrives in town, there’s an undeniable spark between her and Archie. Finally, there’s Cheryl Blossom, Riverdale’s Queen Bee, who is happy to stir up trouble and who seems to be hiding a dark secret about the mysterious death of her twin brother, Jason. Riverdale may look like a quiet, sleepy town, but there are dangers in the shadows.

Riverdale is produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The series airs on The CW network in the U.S. Based on the Archie Comics characters, Riverdale stars KJ Apa (The Cul de Sac), Lili Reinhart (Surviving Jack), Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody), Marisol Nichols (24), Madelaine Petsch (The Curse of Sleeping Beauty), Ashleigh Murray (Appearances: Younger, The Following), with Mädchen Amick (Twin Peaks), and Luke Perry (Beverly Hills, 90210).

T+E is a Blue Ant Media specialty channel that offers an escape into a world brimming with fantasy, intrigue and unforgettable storytelling. From spine-tingling paranormal encounters to crush-worthy characters, T+E offers a mix of thrilling new series, fan-favourite cult series and can’t-miss TV specials for a destination that is totally entertaining.
