Executive Produced by the modern master of horror, Eli Roth
Premieres Friday, October 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on T+E during the channel’s annual Creep Week event from October 9 – 17
(Toronto, ON – September 20, 2021) This October, the award-winning film director, producer, writer and actor Eli Roth (Inglourious Basterds, Hostel, The Last Exorcism) unveils shocking, modern-day real-life stories of hauntings in T+E’s original horror anthology series, Eli Roth Presents: A Ghost Ruined My Life. Executive produced by Eli Roth, this carefully curated collection of ghost stories plays out like mini horror films, immersing audiences in the world of those being haunted and hunted by ghosts. Based upon real stories, the victims’ terrifying first-hand accounts are enhanced with dramatic reconstructions reminiscent of Roth’s vivid cinematic masterpieces. The series also captures raw, unexplainable events taking place behind the scenes during production, from flickering lights to strange noises and electrical devices coming to life on their own. Eli Roth Presents: A Ghost Ruined My Life premieres on Friday, October 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT during T+E’s highly-anticipated Creep Week Halloween event from Saturday, October 9 to Sunday, October 17.
“I’m fascinated by stalkers, the idea of one person you let into your life that won’t leave. But what happens if that person is a ghost? What happened if you had a supernatural stalker, and you had no way to get rid of them? To make matters worse, anyone you tell thinks you’re insane. I wanted to know if that has ever happened to someone,” says Executive Producer, Eli Roth. “I was shocked to see how many people experienced this phenomenon, and they were grateful to share their stories for the first time ever on camera. We found terrific actors to recreate the stories in a cinematic way, like a mini-movie, to tell their tales in the scariest way possible.”
“We’re committed to growing our T+E channel with new, frightening originals and we’re proud to partner with discovery+ in the U.S. to bring Eli Roth Presents: A Ghost Ruined My Life to Canadian audiences,” says Craig Junner, VP, Programming, Canadian Media, Blue Ant Media. “Eli Roth is a master of horror and he brings his signature style to this series with his shock-provoking storytelling. We’ve scheduled the series to premiere during T+E’s Creep Week to keep our audiences spooked and entertained throughout the Halloween season.”
Told from the first-person perspective of the victims and their loved ones, each hour-long episode of T+E’s Eli Roth Presents: A Ghost Ruined My Life is dedicated to one real-life horror story of a haunting that has left emotional (and sometimes physical scars) on those unlucky enough to have experienced them. Taking an entirely new approach to storytelling, the first paranormal encounter is only the beginning – the series goes beyond the initial terrifying contact with the unknown. Each unique show aims to reveal the ravaged relationships, lost livelihoods, and obliterated sense of self that has plagued the main subject since their first confrontation with a ghost, demon, dark entity or poltergeist. Equal parts horrific and evocative, the series exposes audiences to the real-life stories of people dragged through hell and back as they struggle to rebuild their shattered lives.
Eli Roth Presents: A Ghost Ruined My Life is a Blue Ant Media and discovery+ co-production. The series is produced by Toronto-based production company, Cream Productions. David Brady, Kate Harrison Karman and Matt Booi serve as Executive Producers for Cream Productions, along with Cathy Garland for discovery+ and Eli Roth. Armen Kazazian is the Series Producer for Cream Productions. Overseeing the series for T+E is Sam Linton, Head of Original Content for Blue Ant Media’s Canadian channels.
