(Washington, D.C. – March 31, 2022) – Love Nature, a wildlife and nature brand with linear and streaming channels available in over 127 countries, is announcing a new social responsibility initiative, ‘Love Nature Gives Back’. The Initiative supports the conservation of wild animal species and habitats, as well as people working in conservation organizations, featured in Love Nature programming. The program will offer support through monetary donations, the creation of supporting media, and joint social media campaigns among other means.
A key part of the initiative includes engaging with audiences and rewarding Love Nature fans with branded contest giveaways and unique opportunities for viewers to support the conservation organizations directly, which are included in the new Love Nature Gives Back website.
Love Nature is simultaneously announcing two new original series that will participate in Love Nature Gives Back. Wild Dogs: Running with the Pack (6 x 30′; 4K & HDR;) produced by Icon Films, features the journey of wildlife filmmaker Julz Braatvedt on his mission to film and protect African wild dogs with the Zambian Carnivore Program. And, Becoming Orangutan (3 x 60′; 4K & HDR), produced by NHNZ Worldwide, is a mini-series featuring the irresistible primates at the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation as they learn how to survive in the wild. Both titles will premiere on Love Nature’s platforms around the world this summer and on Sky Nature later this year. Both new series are distributed internationally by Blue Ant International and are part of the distributor’s new slate of offerings at MIPTV.
Love Nature Gives Back also includes Malawi Wildlife Rescue Seasons 1 & 2 (12 x 60’; 4K & HDR; Icon Films) and Chasing the Rains (4 x 60’; 4K & HDR; Maramedia).
“Wild Dogs: Running with the Pack and Becoming Orangutan are prime examples of Love Nature’s mission to create captivating new series for our audiences, and they are a perfect fit for our Love Nature Gives Back initiative,” says Alison Barrat, SVP Production and Development, Love Nature. “Love Nature Gives Back was born out of the need to connect more meaningfully with our content and to give back to organizations who are dedicated to conserving wildlife. We’re grateful to Icon Films and NHNZ Worldwide for bringing these stories to life and enabling us to use the power of our programming to create a lasting conservation impact.”
In Wild Dogs: Running with the Pack (6 x 30′; 4K & HDR; Icon Films), wildlife filmmaker Julz Braatvedt journeys to South Luangwa National Park in Africa to follow the lives of several wild dog families. He worked closely with the Zambian Carnivore Program during production and was the first ever cameraman to be embedded with their team. Julz takes audiences on a journey into the park’s wild dog community following three packs as they raise their pups. He witnesses how often they hunt, how they communicate, how often they encounter predators and what this means for their survival.
Love Nature Gives Back is supporting the Zambian Carnivore Program by creating custom promotional content, offering a free license for local broadcaster ZNBC to share a limited broadcast of episodes, creating a custom webpage to drive viewers to the Zambian Carnivore Program through a call to action in the series credits. Viewers will also have the opportunity to win exclusively designed Wild Dogs: Running with the Pack ‘snareware’ jewelry crafted from snares confiscated from the Luangwa Valley.
Becoming Orangutan (3 x 60′; 4K & HDR; NHNZ Worldwide) is a new mini-series featuring the world of orphaned orangutans at the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation. The adorable baby orangutans are nurtured by specially trained human carers and taught the skills they need to survive in the wild. The episodes explore how each orangutan progresses from nursery, through to orangutan high school and reveals how making friends can be the difference between success and failure. The three part series also explores human parallels to the young apes’ emotional development, as each individual navigates the stages of growing up. Love Nature Gives Back will support the Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation with several initiatives including: creating a short fundraising film for BOSF, providing BOSF with series excerpts to promote their efforts, and supporting campaigns around International Orangutan Day.
Additional new programming that is part of Love Nature Gives Back this year includes two previously announced series. Malawi Wildlife Rescue Season 1 & 2 and Chasing the Rains. For Chasing the Rains, Love Nature Gives Back’s involvement will support Save the Elephants. For Malawi Wildlife Rescue, Love Nature Gives Back is supporting The Lilongwe Wildlife Trust, where the series is filmed.
Jonathan Vaughan, CEO of Lilongwe Wildlife Trust, says: “We are thrilled to partner with Love Nature Gives Back. As Malawi’s only wildlife sanctuary we depend on public support to save animals and return them to the wild – where they belong. We receive so many amazing messages of support from Love Nature viewers, as well as some very kind donations. I hope people who watch the show will be inspired to find out more about Malawi and may even consider coming out to volunteer with our team.”
