Toronto, ON (May 18, 2017) – A.Side, Canada’s newest multi-platform music and pop culture brand, has officially launched and it’s legit. Spotlighting today’s hottest music and culture trends, the new offering intends to spark and feed conversation with music fans across Canada with its digital magazine OntheAside.com, national television station and social media via takeovers from fan-favourite artists across the globe.
“With A.Side, we’re opening the pop culture conversation to everyone. We’re tapping into what millennials are talking about, and listening to, and giving music lovers unique access to their favourite artists on multiple platforms,” said Tyler Munro, Editor, OntheASide.com.
OntheASide.com launches today with a lineup of snackable lifestyle articles, video interviews with fan-favourite artists and pop-culture essays. Readers will also be treated to original photography and artist guest posts from both emerging and established talent all over the world. The site launches with two new interviews, featuring Bishop Briggs and Mac DeMarco. Bishop Briggs, a London native, now LA-based soul singer, just dropped her new single The Way I Do off her debut self-titled EP. Briggs was interviewed by Munro for a video feature talking about her pre-and-post show rituals, her stage name and karaoke. Mac DeMarco, a Canadian singer-songwriter who recently launched his new album This Old Dog, was also interviewed by Munro for an editorial feature on A.Side.
Adding to the experience is A.Side TV, going live nationally on Tuesday, May 30. A.Side TV will offer curated music videos balancing some of the most groundbreaking visuals with today’s trending favourites. New programming hitting the channel this spring includes Mary Mary and SWV Reunited, which are both exclusive to Canada. Mary Mary, premiering June 4 at 7 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT is a reality television series featuring gospel group members Tina and Erica Campbell as they navigate through the everyday drama that surrounds their family life. SWV Reunited, premiering on June 4 at 8 p.m. ET/ 9 p.m. PT, is a docu-series following Cheryl, Leanne and Tamara from the iconic, Grammy Award–nominated R&B trio from New York City. Viewers will join SWV on their journey back to the stage, while launching a new album and experiencing the trials and tribulations of getting the band back together after 20 years apart. A.Side TV will also offer curated music videos balancing some of the most groundbreaking visuals with today’s trending favourites. A List will serve as the ad-supported channel’s main video flow, grouping together videos from any genre or era under a unifying theme. The schedule will also offer cult-classic movies, and their soundtracks, like Garden State, Drumline and Walk The Line. A.Side will broadcast in Canada in HD and will replace Blue Ant Media’s existing AUX channel.
For Snapchat, Facebook and Instagram users, hit up @A.Side. The brand’s Snapchat will give fans access to notable talent, where artists will take over the platform to give an intimate look at life on the road, in the studio or on the summer festival circuit. Each takeover will also make an appearance across A.Side’s other social media platforms.
